But when we moved to Doha, Qatar my whole world was turned upside down. My marriage ended in divorce and the process was emotionally grueling. I spent so much time taking the blame for my ex-husband’s infidelity and emotional control. From changing my religion to empowering his career choices and decisions. I felt like I had lost my identity in his world. I was a mother, a full-time journalist and I was exhausted. It took three attempts for me to find a sympathetic judge in the Qatari system who saw what I needed and helped me find a way out. Emotionally shattered, mentally broken and physically drained, I looked around and saw three other heartbeats that needed mine. I had to dig deep and decide who I was and who I wanted to be. I needed to take control of my life, find my passion, uncover my power and find my place of peace, not just for myself but also for my kids. I have always loved learning about new ideas, reading and writing. I took several courses through Yale University’s online program on Emotional Intelligence and the Science of Well-Being. Through this I found my voice and my purpose. As I started to open up about my experience, I realized there were many others around me who were facing similar struggles and I wanted to help, so I started coaching.
